Who we are

WATTDRIVE (operated by Wattdrive Infra Private Limited, India) runs a network of electric vehicle charging stations and the website and apps used to find, use and manage them, available at wattdrive.co.in. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the choices you have. It applies to drivers, charge point hosts and visitors to our website.

Information we collect

• Account details — your name, email address, mobile number and, if provided, profile photo.
• Google sign-in data — if you choose “Continue with Google”, Google shares your name, email address, Google account ID and profile picture with us, under the email, profile and openid permissions only. We never receive or store your Google password, and we request no access to Gmail, Drive, Contacts, Calendar or any other Google service.
• Charging and billing data — charging sessions, energy delivered, stations used, wallet top-ups, payments and GST invoices.
• Location data — your approximate or precise location, only while you use the station finder and only with your device permission. You can refuse or withdraw it and still use the service by searching manually.
• Technical data — device and browser type, IP address, and security and error logs needed to operate the service.

How we use your data

• Create your account and sign you in securely.
• Show nearby charging stations, live availability and applicable tariffs.
• Start, monitor and end charging sessions, and bill them correctly.
• Process payments and wallet top-ups and issue GST invoices by email.
• Provide customer support and respond to your requests.
• Detect and prevent fraud, misuse and abuse of charging equipment.
• Meet Indian tax, accounting and other legal obligations.
• Improve the reliability and coverage of our charging network.

We rely on your consent for optional processing such as location access and marketing messages, and on the performance of our contract with you and our legal obligations for the rest.

How Google user data is used and protected

Data received from your Google account is used solely to create and identify your WATTDRIVE account and to display your name and picture inside the app. It is stored in our secured database in encrypted form in transit and at rest, accessible only to authorised personnel. It is not sold, rented, transferred for advertising, or used to train any artificial intelligence or machine learning model. WATTDRIVE’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us operate the service, and only to the extent needed: payment gateways (Razorpay, Cashfree) for payments, charging station management systems for session control, email and messaging providers for invoices and notifications, and cloud hosting and database providers. We also disclose data where required by Indian law, court order or a lawful government request, and to protect the rights and safety of users and our network.

Retention

Account details are kept while your account is active. Session, payment and invoice records are kept for eight years, as required by Indian tax and accounting law. Technical and security logs are kept for up to twelve months. When a retention period ends, data is deleted or irreversibly anonymised.

Your rights and deleting your account

You may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of your account and associated data, a copy of your data, or withdrawal of consent for optional processing. Email support@wattdrive.co.in from your registered address with the subject “Data request” and we will respond within 30 days. Deletion also removes the data received from your Google account; records we are legally required to retain, such as tax invoices, are kept for the statutory period.

Security

We protect your data with encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest, role-based access controls, row-level database security and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your personal data we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies and local browser storage to keep you signed in, hold your session and remember preferences such as your last map position. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Children

The service is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if we learn that we have, we delete it.

Where your data is processed

Our service is offered in India and data is processed on cloud infrastructure that may be located outside India. Where that happens, we require appropriate contractual safeguards from our providers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The revision date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and we will notify you of significant changes by email or in the app.
